Luca Marenzio: Quia credisti me,Thomas

Quia vidisti me, Thoma, credisti; beati qui crederunt et non viderunt. Alleluia.

Because you have seen me, Thomas, you have believed. How blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. (John 20:29)

Parce que tu m'as vu, Thomas, tu as cru. Heureux sont ceux qui n'ont pas vu et qui ont cru.

Drop, drop, slow tears

Drop, drop, slow tears,
And bathe those beauteous feet,
Which brought from Heav’n
The news and Prince of Peace.

Cease not, wet tears,
His mercies to entreat;
To cry for vengeance:
Sin doth never cease.

In your deep floods
Drown all my faults and fears;
Nor let His eye see
Sin, but through my tears.

Ecce lignum Crucis

Ecce lignum Crucis,
in quo salus mundi pependit.
Venite, adoremus.

Behold the wood of the Cross,
on which the salvation of the world hung.
Come, let us worship.

Alleluya psallat

Alleluya. Alleluya psallat haec familia
Alleluia Alleluia, sings this merry company
Alleluya timpanizet
Alleluia, strike the cymbals
Alleluya citharizet
Alleluia, sound the zither
Alleluya psallat haec familia:
Alleluia, sings this merry company
Alleluya psallat laetus coitus cum armonia:
Alleluia, sing together now in joyful harmony
Alleluya concinat Deo laude et praeconia
Alleluia to God the Father praise and honour ever be:
Alleluya
Alleluia.

My hope is built

My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name. On Christ the solid Rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand; All other ground is sinking sand. (Edward Mote)

Asperges me

Asperges me Domine hyssopo et mundabor: lavabis me et super nivem dealbabor. Miserere mei Deus, secundum magnam misericordiam tuam.

Thou wilt sprinkle me, O Lord, with hyssop and I shall be cleansed
Thou wilt wash me, and I shall be washed whiter than snow.
Pity me, O God, according to Thy great mercy.

Purifie-moi avec l'hysope, et je serai pur; lave-moi, et je serai plus blanc que la neige. Aie pitié de moi, ô Dieu, selon ta bonté. (Psaume 51)

Casciolini: Sacris solemniis

Sacris solemniis
iuncta sint gaudia,
et ex praecordiis
sonent praeconia;
recedant vetera,
nova sint omnia,
corda, voces, et opera.

At this our solemn feast
let holy joys abound,
and from the inmost breast
let songs of praise resound;
let ancient rites depart,
and all be new around,
in every act, and voice, and heart.

Qu'à ces saintes solennités
réponde notre joie
Et que du fond des cœurs
résonnent nos louanges.
Que s'efface l'ancien
et que tout soit nouveau
Les cœurs, les voix, les œuvres.

O come hither

O come hither and hearken all ye that fear God, and I will tell you what he hath done for my soul. God hath hear me and considered the voice of my prayer. (Psalm 66:14, 17)

Wash me throughly

Wash me throughly from my wickedness, and cleanse me from my sin. (Psalm 51:2)

Jesu rex admirabilis

Jesu rex admirabilis et triumphator nobilis,
dulcedo ineffabilis totus desiderabilis.
Mane nobiscum Domine et nos illustra lumine,
pulsa mentis caligine,
 mundum reple dulcedine.

O Jesus, wondrous king and noble conqueror,
unutterable sweetness, wholly desirable:
Remain with us, Lord, and enlighten us with light,
drive away the darkness of our minds,
fill the world with sweetness.

Jésus, roi admirable et triomphateur noble,
Douceur ineffable, tout entier desirable :
Reste avec nous, Seigneur, et illumine-nous de ta lumière,
Chasse les ténèbres de notre esprit,
emplis le monde de douceur.
