William Byrd: Ne irascaris, Domine – Civitas sancti tui (1589)

Ne irascaris, Domine, satis, et ne ultra
memineris iniquitatis nostrae. Ecce, respice,
populus tuus omnes nos.

Be not angry any more, O Lord, and do not
remember our iniquity any longer. Behold, see, we
are all thy people.

Civitas sancti tui facta est deserta. Sion deserta
facta est. Jerusalem desolata est.

The city of thy holy place is become a wilderness.
Sion is become a wilderness. Jerusalem is forsaken.

Isaiah 64: 9, 10
