William Byrd: Attollite portas (1575)

Attollite portas, principes, vestras, et elevamini,
portae aeternales: et introibit Rex gloriae.
Quis est ipse Rex gloriae?
Dominus fortis et potens in proelio.
Quis est ipse Rex gloriae?
Dominus virtutum ipse est Rex gloriae.
Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto:
Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper,
et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Lift up your gates, ye princes, and be lifted up,
ye everlasting doors: and the King of glory will
come in.
Who is this King of glory?
It is the Lord, strong and mighty in battle.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of strength, he himself is the King of
Glory.
Glory be to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
